Top 50 Premier League Players of the Season ranked; Five Reds make cut

Posted by

Well known magazine FourFourTwo have named their 50 best Premier League players of the season, with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk at no.1.

The Dutchman is ahead of Manchester City duo Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling, who finish 2nd and 3rd respectively, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard in 4th.

Sadio Mane is next at 5, with Mo Salah 7th and Andy Robertson 10th!

The only other Red who makes the list is Alisson at no.25, bizarrely five places below Newcastle stopper Martin Dubravka.

Here’s the Top 10 in Full:

1/ Virgil van Dijk
2/ Bernardo Silva
3/ Raheem Sterling
4/ Eden Hazard
5/ Sadio Mane
6/ Sergio Aguero
7/ Mohamed Salah
8/ Harry Kane
9/ Aymeric Laporte
10/ Andrew Robertson

We don’t honestly know how Golden Boot favourite Mo Salah is in 7th, while Hazard is in 4th, but we guess it’s due to the bizarre narrative that our Egyptian has had a poor season.

The no.11 has 19 PL goals, mostly from the right flank – and has scored a number of crucial match winning efforts to boot.

He had a dry patch a few months back, but Liverpool were still winning matches and his team-mates were finding the back of the net instead.

Still, if we secure the title, we very much doubt Salah will care one bit!
