Liverpool starting XI v Huddersfield: Oxlade-Chamberlain named in squad

Posted by

Jurgen Klopp has named a strong side as Liverpool look to secure three points at home to Huddersfield Town.

A win for the Reds will keep the pressure on Manchester City as the Premier League title race approaches its end.

The big news is that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returns to the match-day squad for the first time since Roma last season!

Alisson starts in goal and will have a back four of Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

Joe Gomez has threatened to come back into the side, but is not deemed not fit enough to start tonight.

Skipper Jordan Henderson retains his place in the eleven and will have Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita for support.

Fabinho went off injured against Cardiff City and is likely rested as a precaution with the boss keeping an eye on Barcelona.

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, as anticipated, start up top for the Reds tonight, but are joined by the surprise addition of Daniel Sturridge.

Klopp confirmed, via the official club’s website, that Bobby Firmino has been rested following a knock in training, but the boss doesn’t seem overly concerned.

Victory for Liverpool means top of the table with two games to go (three for City).

Anything is possible. Come on you Reds!
