Pepe Reina urges Alisson to break Man United legends’ records

Pepe Reina has always kept Liverpool close to his heart after departing the club in 2013 for Serie A side Napoli to join up with Rafa Benitez.

His Twitter account has famously sported a graphic displaying the ‘keeper as the ‘Y’ in an abbreviated ‘YNWA’ of the Reds’ famous anthem.

It’s hard to know how you’d react if some new kid on the block was threatening to break records you set at a previous club, but Pepe is nothing short of class and has issued a rallying message to Alisson.

The Spaniard hints that he wants Liverpool’s number 13 to get another two clean sheets in the Reds remaining fixtures – this would put the Brazilian one ahead of the great Edwin van der Sar and two ahead of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel.

Alisson has been nothing short of a incredible this season; the addition of Virgil van Dijk and the stopper has turned Jurgen Klopp’s Reds into a fearsome force – both domestically and on the European stage.

Looking at the Sky Sports graphic above really makes you appreciate just how special that Chelsea team of 2004/05 were. It also makes you smile to think about the Liverpool side that knocked them out of the Champions League!
