Burnley star jokes about receiving text from Jurgen Klopp

There’s no hiding it – Burnley could do Liverpool a gargantuan favour if they take points off Manchester City and everyone knows it.

Ashley Barnes is in fine form this season, scoring 11 goals for the Clarets and totting up two assists in 34 games, and will likely be the hero if Burnley do the business against our title rivals.

The forward has joked about receiving a text message from Reds boss Jurgen Klopp ahead of the all-important fixture. “I know what winning the League means. All of us would go down in Liverpool history if we helped them out against City,” he joked to the Daily Mail.

Jurgen Klopp has even sent a sly text to say if I score he might sign me for next season,” he added.

Never mind signing him, Liverpool would probably erect a 20 ft statue outside of Anfield if he bags the winner!

Burnley pose as the Reds’ best hope of City dropping points before the season winds up. Should the Citizens do what’s expected of them, Brendan Rodgers’ players will surely be getting a few texts from Klopp.

Go on, Ashley – do us a favour, you’d never have to pay for a drink in Liverpool again!
