Excellent PL veteran cited as one of two Mignolet replacement options

Liverpool have been linked with potential moves for two goalkeepers this summer, if Simon Mignolet were to move on elsewhere.

The Belgian is a terrific no.2 and has served as Alisson’s understudy in an extremely professional manner, but aged 31, he is totally within his rights to look for an exit in order to play first-team football elsewhere.

The Echo reckon West Ham’s Lukasz Fabianski and Torino’s Salvatore Sirigu are options.

Fabianski, in our opinion, is one of the top flight’s most underrated keepers and we’ve always been impressed with him – whether that’s for West Ham or Swansea.

He may not be too keen on a backup role, of course, as there’s no way Alisson’s spot between the sticks is being usurped.

Sirigu is another interesting one. The 31-year-old kept net at PSG for many years, winning four Ligue 1 titles, but he was eventually moved on by the French and is now plying his trade in his homeland for Torino.

He left PSG, a Champions League club, to find more minutes elsewhere, so we’re not sure he’d head to Liverpool and warm a bench for the best years of his career.

As a result, we don’t think either of these stoppers will become Reds – but we’re intrigued to see the identity of the new no.2 as summer draws closer.
