‘Doesn’t look good…’ Naby Keita’s injury assessed with likely timeframe for return announced

It will take Liverpool qualifying for the Champions League Final and then Naby Keita winning a race against time in order for our no.8 to play again this season.

The Guinean limped off with a groin injury during last night’s 3-0 defeat to Barcelona, which was a big shame as he started the game well.

In fact, he’s been in terrific form and has finally started to look like the player we hoped we’d signed from Rb Leipzig, but we’ll likely have to wait until the 2019/20 campaign to see him again.

Dave Maddock of the Mirror said he’ll be out for a month, which obviously rules out any participation in the Premier League, either this or next weekend.

It’s obviously a long shot considering how far we are behind in the tie, but if we pulled off a miracle at Anfield v Barcelona, Keita could work hard to get in the squad for the June 1 Final.

Still, it’s unlikely Jurgen Klopp would throw him back in as starter.

All we can say now is that we wish him all the luck in his recovery. Our hopes for Keita are enormous and think he’s shown enough in recent weeks to suggest he’s going to be huge in 2019/20.
