Mourinho praises ‘brave’ Liverpool in uncharacteristically non-egocentric comments

Jose Mourinho always seems a lot calmer and more assured when he’s out a of managerial job.

During the last few months of his time at Manchester United, the Portuguese was a ticking time-bomb of anger, anxiety and bitterness.

But since he’s been out of the game for a while, he’s been able to crack a smile and is actually capable of speaking to journalists again without being a condescending, sarcastic narcissist.

Mourinho has given his thoughts on Barcelona 3-0 Liverpool and actually paid Jurgen Klopp a compliment in his analysis of the game – which we think is more or less fair.

“Liverpool was brave in the approach,” Mourinho said, cited by RTE.

“I don’t think in the past 20 years many teams in the Champions League they beat Barcelona in all possession in the Camp Nou.”

“Of course they [Barcelona] have a good team, they have phenomenal players, but that player [Messi] is absolutely incredible.

“Liverpool deserves much more than the 3-0 defeat, much more, but in the last two corners of the game, it could be 4-0 or 5-0, because the game was broken and then they couldn’t cope,” he concluded.

There’s actually been some nonsense peddled by internet idiots about how Klopp is a failure following the result, and that he’s responsible for Messi curling in wondergoals or Liverpool’s stars fluffing their lines.

Real Reds of course know the result was practically a freak one – and actually still hold out hope for the 2nd leg.

It’ll require a monumental effort, but if the fans believe and we get the rub of the green, who knows!
