(Video) Wenger discusses where Liverpool went wrong v Barca

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger now works as a pundit for beIN Sport, and in all honesty – it’s a shame English viewers don’t get the benefit of his insight on a weekly basis.

Le Professeur gave a very fair analysis of Barcelona 3-0 Liverpool, highlighting the key moments that changed the game.

Wenger reckons Ernesto Valverde did a very smart thing in replacing Coutinho with Nelson Semedo – which solidified the home side defensively – and obviously that Lionel Messi’s ability to produce magical moments was the overriding difference.

“It’s typical things I’ve seen at Barcelona. You come out of there with the feeling you’ve done well, but they were better than you in the final third,” he concluded.

If Liverpool had taken just one of our three gilt-edged chances, we’d still be well in the tie – but now it’s going to take a genuinely legendary effort to turn it around at Anfield on Tuesday night.
