The skipper actually got injured in the first-half, but bravely stayed on and even had painkilling tablets and injections at half-time to keep him going.
“I was struggling a little bit when I got a whack on the knee. It was dead,” he said, reported in the Echo.
“The doctor said to just keep it moving. I managed to get to half-time and I had a bit of treatment – there was a jab and tablets. I said: ‘Just give us everything!’
“I managed to get through it and the crowd helped as well and kept us going. It was an amazing night and I’m honoured to be part of it and contribute.”
No Liverpool fan ever has the right to lazily slag off Henderson again, in short.
The player has always been a credit to the club in how he’s carried himself and this season has put in superb performances to boot.
In the Final, we expect him to play one of the no.8 roles ahead of Fabinho, with likely Gini Wijnaldum on the other side.
