Busquets explains just how Liverpool have ruined Barcelona

Sergio Busquets has given an honest interview in which he’s explained the depths of Barcelona’s sadness after we knocked them out of the Champions League.

Last Tuesday, the Reds won 4-0 at Anfield and overturned a 3-0 deficit from the first-leg in what’s the greatest single match performance in the history of the competition.

Barcelona won La Liga and are in the Copa del Rey Final against Valencia, but Busquets says the team is still reeling following the incredible result on Merseyside.

“Hopefully the wounds which the club, the fans and the players have will heal,” he told ESPN

“We’re all hurting. I’ve lost titles, games, but I have never been dealt a blow like this. It’s really difficult for everyone, even though it forms part of the game.

“We will come out of it together. We’ve got the cup final to come. The challenge ahead isn’t a small one, either. Winning a double is no small thing but the wound from Liverpool is deep.

“It’s not the moment to single people out or look for [immediate] solutions. We have to stick together. We have done big things together and now we must focus on ending the season in the best way possible.”

Chin up, lad!

You came up against the best crowd you’ll ever experience and a side that were simply not going to lose.

A likely two more trophies this season means it’s not all bad for Busquets, Lionel Messi and co.

Liverpool of course have to make it count on June 1, when we play Tottenham in Madrid’s Final.

Losing that one after last season and missing out on the title by one point would be all too heartbreaking to even consider.
