Italy international: I want to ‘play in Liverpool’

Italy and Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi has explained how he’d transfer to Liverpool if he had the choice of any club in Europe.

The 24-year-old currently plies his trade in Serie A, although he’s not recently been as prolific as he was during his early seasons after bursting onto the scene in 2012.

Berardi has only scored seven times domestically this term, notching just four the season previous – so he’s a long way off the kind of form that warrants an Anfield switch.

“If an offer arrives, be it from Milan or another club, I will evaluate it with my club,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport, cited in Goal.

“And if I hear that it is the right proposal, to be taken on the fly, this time I will say to Sassuolo: ‘I’ll take it.’

“Being able to choose, I would play in Liverpool.

“Changing remains difficult for me, but it no longer frightens me, I would do it.

“The next goal is to play in Europe, but at a club where I can be used a lot, if not always. That is my priority.”

It’s no surprise Berardi would pick Jurgen Klopp’s Reds over anybody else.

Over the past two seasons, we’ve made back-to-back Champions League Finals, which included multiple phenomenal Anfield performances, where the crowd was simply insane.

As an attacker, playing for a manager who favours offensive football and in front of support like that, is naturally attractive.

Sadly for Berardi, we’re not sure he’s on our radar!

Klopp needs more rounded attackers to complement our wonderful starting trio – and we reckon at least one will arrive before the start of next season.

Our choice would be Nicholas Pepe, Lille’s sublime wing-forward.
