Star LFC have scouted shares photo with Anfield ‘brother’ as rumours intensify

Liverpool have spent lots of time watching Lyon over the past 18 months.

Firstly, we scouted Nabil Fekir heavily before almost concluding a deal last summer – and this season have been checking out his team-mates, Memphis Depay, Tanguy Ndombele and Houssem Aouar.

Mercato365 claim we were watching the trio at the weekend, while the Echo have published a piece intensifying the Depay rumours by noting the fan reaction.

Depay has also shared a picture with his former PSV team-mate and current Dutch starter Gini Wijnaldum – who’s been at Liverpool since 2016.

Depay has come on leaps and bounds since permanently exiting Manchester United in 2017.

Last term he scored 22 goals in total and notched a further eight this term, which is actually surprisingly few considering he regularly started as a centre-forward.

What Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp would find appealing about Depay is his versatility and ability to play anywhere along the front-three.

He’s two-footed and undeniably possesses the creativity needed to pull defences apart, although his work-rate and attitude has previously been questioned.

It was apparently that reason that stopped him making the grade at Old Trafford, but we’ve seen with Mo Salah at Chelsea, for example, that this is no reason to completely neglect talented attackers who left the Premier League early.
