Klopp identifies personal omen that hints Reds will win number six in Madrid

Jurgen Klopp and his players will be preparing extensively to face Tottenham in the Champions League final in just under two week’s time – but the German believes his time has come to win the trophy.

Having lost his previous two Champions League finals – against Real Madrid in Kyiv last season and against Bayern Munich with Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in 2013 – the boss reckons a third will see his fortunes change.

He said to LiverpoolFC.com: “In Germany, we have a saying: ‘All the best things come in threes’. At Mainz, I missed promotion twice and we got promoted in the third season. We hope that it will repeat itself for the Champions League.”

With his experience, and the fact there was a 26 point gap between Spurs and ourselves in the Premier League, the Reds are favourites to win the competition on June 1.

In the league, the Reds completed the double over Spurs, including winning at Wembley against them in the first half of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino and his players have never played at this stage of the tournament before, while the Reds were there just 12 months ago, and were in the Europa League final before that, so know exactly what to expect.

Let’s hope Klopp is right about his omen – what a way to end a fantastic season it would be.
