Joel Matip is buzzing about the way he ended the season on a personal level and reckons Liverpool can beat Tottenham in less than ten days’ time.
The Cameroonian has been sensational in 2019, ever since winning a spot alongside Virgil van Dijk at centre-back after Joe Gomez broke his leg in December.
As a result, we expect Matip to start next to the world-class Dutchman v Spurs, with Dejan Lovren and Gomez on the 12-man bench.

“At the beginning of the season I was struggling with injuries and other lads did very well, so there was no reason to change,” Matip told Liverpoolfc.com.
“But in the second half I could play and could improve. I feel good.
“You are waiting for this. And then if you can use it, it’s not a bad feeling – it’s not the worst feeling.
“It was a great season and we can finish it. It’s the biggest game during this season and we will do everything for this.
“It will be a completely different game, but we know we can beat them and we are looking forward.”
Matip 100% deserves his position in the team right now. Gomez was playing terrifically during the first-half of the season, but the man we got from Schalke on a Bosman has done just as well in his absence.
Jurgen Klopp is a fair manager in that he doesn’t make take a player out of the side when they’re in form – and Matip has done nothing to warrant being dropped.
His performances in the Champions League semi v Barcelona were excellent, and if he can find that level again – we have a good chance of keeping Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and co. quiet.
