Klopp outlines Keita and Firmino fitness situations; Reds set for boost ahead of Champions League final

Roberto Firmino looks set to regain his fitness in time for the Champions League Final according to Jurgen Klopp, whilst the situation regarding Naby Keita’s fitness is still up in the air.

According to Goal, Klopp is said to be confident regarding our Brazilian’s fitness levels ahead of our match against Spurs on June 1st, stating that, “Bobby looks really good [and] he is now part of training.”

As per the same report, the 24-year-old is recovering quicker than the club expected, but it’s still unknown as to whether he’ll be back in time.

On Thursday Klopp noted, via the club’s official website, that Keita is, “a bit ahead of schedule, but that doesn’t mean anything for the final.

“He is now doing straight runs and all of that stuff, he feels comfortable with 50 per cent intensity and these things – but there is still a way to go.”

It’d be a huge boost if we were to have both our no.9 and Keita fit, but given Klopp’s words, we can only expect one of them to play from the outset.

We showed against Barcelona that we’ve got the squad depth and quality to overcome one of the best teams on the planet, so reckon either Gini Wijnaldum or James Milner will be capable of making up the midfield trio alongside Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in Keita’s absence.
