Klopp explains how he judges new signings in training

We’re not sure how many new arrivals there’ll be at Liverpool ahead of next season…

The Reds might need a new goalkeeper if Simon Mignolet departs for first-team football, while a left-back is a necessity on the expiration of current backup Alberto Moreno’s contract.

There’s also the possibility of a versatile attacker signing with Daniel Sturridge also set for the exit door – which is the position causing the most excitement amongst supporters.

Those three potentially new players will have a huge job on their hands impressing at Melwood, of course – up against a squad who have just qualified for its second consecutive Champions League Final and racked up 97 points domestically.

Jurgen Klopp has explained how he puts no pressure on new players and instead integrates them slowly – deciding which parts of their games he likes and what he feels he needs to add in good time.

“When a new player is coming in, I don’t give them any information. I let them play, I learn about what is good naturally and what we want to adjust,” he told the club’s official website.

“You learn more about your players each day, how to treat them and how to deal with them, a lot happens with one talk actually, whether that’s with the player or with the team.

“All in all, you try to help 11 players do the right things in the right moment.”

This makes sense when seeing how the likes of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Andy Robertson a year earlier settled in.

The likes of Sadio Mane, Alisson and Mo Salah hit the ground running, but not every new signing is in a position to do so – and this is fine.

We’ve had so few failures of note in the transfer market under Klopp’s leadership, that fans now rightly have patience with all the new lads.

If we nail another transfer window, hopefully on the back of a European Cup triumph, we’ll be very well set for 2019/20.
