Luis Suarez’s Barcelona future in doubt after Liverpool humbling at Anfield

Reports in Spain are suggesting Barcelona now believe Luis Suarez to be surplus to requirements after crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of his former club.

That’s according to Spanish publication Sport, who describe the Uruguayan as ‘transferable’ and continues to suggest that Suarez and Barcelona’s board are no strangers to falling out with each-other.

The forward missed Barca’s Copa del Rey defeat to Valencia over the weekend, and this only furthered already existing tensions between the two parties, according to the same report.

The former Liverpool star somewhat responded to reports with the release of a statement on social media. See below:

The 32-year-old surely wouldn’t be short of options if the Catalan club chose to move him on. The only question is – where to?

Suarez is certainly the type of player Jurgen Klopp would like to have at the club, but would he be preferred over Bobby Firmino? It’s impossible to know these things now, but there aren’t any reports currently linking the Uruguayan with the Reds.

There are suggestions, as per GOAL, that he may return to Dutch champions Ajax however – following their stomping effort in the Champions League this season, it’d likely be a happy rekindling.
