Football is a game of opinions – it’d be boring if we all agreed on everything. However, there are times when someone simply comes out with a comment that can only be described as ridiculous.
Former Newcastle and PSG II man Habib Beye has been talking up the French champions ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur.
Only he’s put them up by putting the Reds down. “Liverpool are about to go into a Champions’ League final with Milner, Henderson and Wijnaldum. We need to stop thinking that PSG can’t do it because of the players that they have,” he told Canal Football Club – via GFFN.
Honestly, I think Beye needs put remove his head from where the sun fails to shine. He’s bang out of order in suggesting James Milner, Gini Wijnaldum and our skipper Jordan Henderson aren’t worthy of reaching a European summit.
We’re talking about three players that have now reached back-to-back Champions League finals. We’re talking about three players that were integral to Liverpool’s Premier League assault on the mega-rich Manchester City this season.
It’s attitudes like this that really annoy me; Wijnaldum proved himself a hero against Barcelona, I didn’t think much of Milner when he joined the club – I now think he’s bordering on legend status, and Henderson is the captain of Liverpool Football Club and a damn fine box-to-box midfielder.
These men deserve more respect than that.
