After two thrilling Champions League semi-finals, it’s official: Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs will play each other in the UEFA Champion League final on the 1st of June.
Whilst euphoric chants of ‘we’re going to Madrid’ may still be ringing out in both cities, tensions and spirits are sure to running high, as this is one match which is proving more and more difficult to predict as the final draws closer.
Online sportsbooks and mobile casinos have, naturally, been quick to name their winner. Liverpool are the current favourite to win the competition, but how likely is this result?
The Odds for Liverpool to Win the Champions League
As we’ve just mentioned, Liverpool are the current favourites to win the Champions League. After a triumphant and almost miraculous semi-final, we can see why.
- Odds on Liverpool to Win: 6/11
Liverpool have always felt at home in Europe. Whilst the last time they won the competition was almost 14 years ago (against A.C. Milan in Istanbul), they did reach the final stage last year, before being knocked out by Real Madrid.
This year, however, Liverpool are looking strong. Their manager Jurgen Klopp is yet to win a trophy for the club and the team as a whole will be hungry to win for their fans. Moreover, by the 1st of June, all of Liverpool’s star players should be match-fit, which wasn’t the case last year.
A fully fit team means that formidable strikers Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino will join the likes of Sadio Mane and Divock Origi, to give Liverpool a strong attacking presence which should be enough to keep Spurs at bay.
- Salah to Score: 29/20
- Roberto Firmino to Score: 21/10
- Sadio Mane to Score: 29/20
- Divock Origi to Score: 11/5
A Game of Two Halves?
Both Liverpool and Spurs have achieved the impossible to reach the final. Liverpool overcame Barcelona at Anfield last, taking home a 4-0 victory which saw the Catalan team (and Lionel Messi) out of the competition. Similarly, Spurs beat out Ajax for their spot in the final which is impressive given the Dutch team’s recent form.
This struggle to even be in Madrid will keep both teams fighting from whistle to whistle. As such, both early and late goals look very likely and this could turn into a match of two halves.
That being said, it’s more likely that Liverpool will actually win both halves of the match. We actually believe that Liverpool will score early on, as they did against Barcelona, and then will manage to keep Spurs off until the half time whistle.
Spurs may score in the second half yet, as we’re still predicting a winning result for Liverpool, this will soon be quashed by Liverpool before the end of the match.
- Odds on Liverpool to Win Both Halves: 6/11
As you can see, Liverpool are clearly the bookies’ favourite to win the competition – and they should be able to make it look easy too.
That being said, Spurs do have a strong fighting spirit and, as we all know, the Champions League is a competition where anything can happen on the night.
