Reds again linked with Ligue 1 attacker – as Bundesliga superstar confirms next destination

The Reds are again being linked with a move for Lille forward Nicolas Pepe, who would cost around £60 million, but appear to have no hope of signing Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz.

According to France Football, both the Reds and Arsenal are interested in acquiring Pepe, who scored 22 times in Ligue 1 this season, as well as providing 11 assists.

Havertz, though, who scored 17 times in the Bundesliga during this campaign, will be heading to Bayern Munich according to Leverkusen sporting director Reiner Calmund, although that move will take place next summer rather than this one.

Via the Metro, he said: “Kai Havertz will go to Bayern next year, not this year. He will not move [this summer]. Leverkusen want to enjoy him a bit longer but he’ll move on.”

Havertz is regarded as one of the top young talents in world football, so missing out on him would be a shame, but the Pepe rumours are persisting.

With the need for a versatile attacker this summer very much on the agenda, he could definitely fit the bill. At 23, he is the perfect age to come in and make a real difference, and his numbers this year speak for themselves.
