Reminiscing about his German football upbringing, he notes that Liverpool where always the name associated with the competition in his home country. It was an era of European dominance for us.
But it was an event closer to the present that brought back hope of a Red dynasty: “If I had watched the Barcelona game as a seven-year-old, I would remember it,” he revealed.
“Everyone in football knows it was so special and it is not something you will see often in your life.
“Liverpool have gone from being the not most attractive girl in the village to a supermodel.”
“We are one of the five or six best clubs in Europe again. I do not know when that was last the case but it was a while ago.
“That is why I am happy for the people. They see where their club is and think, ‘Look at that. Look at that red. That is Liverpool’. This is what we feel now.”

Proud of what has been achieved together, in the interview with Carra, Klopp also revealed that other players too are eager to join his Anfield revolution.
“If I am trying to make signings I don’t have to convince players anymore and tell them what Liverpool is. That is obvious.
“I never had so many messages as I did after both Barcelona games. Everybody watched it, and thought, ‘Wow, what was that?’ I have never had so many compliments for the performance of my team.
“I don’t know how many people watched but there will have been a few in the world. That makes it special as well – one game, a semi-final. There was no other game on the planet with such focus.”
It was truly a match for the ages and one which has already established itself as a modern classic in the Champions League. But it was all down to the Reds on the night and Klopp instilling in them the belief they could overcome all the odds.
With all of this development – both on the pitch and off it – “Who connected to Liverpool cannot be happy?,” Klopp asks.
“Who cannot love what we are doing? Because step by step we are coming closer to everything.”
Despite not winning the title, we’ve achieved back-to-back Champions League finals. Klopp’s taken us to the final furlong several times, but on Saturday night against Spurs it feels almost like destiny that the Reds lift their sixth European cup.
