Bosman duo to be rewarded after Saturday’s Champions League final

According to The Telegraph, the Reds are set to reward James Milner and Joel Matip with new contract extensions after the Champions League final against Tottenham on Saturday.

Even at 33-years-old, Milly has become a vital cog in Jürgen Klopp’s red machine; with a year still to run on his current deal he’s contracted to the club until at least the summer of 2021.

The Reds’ understanding with the evergreen Milner will be a season-by-season review for the veteran midfielder.

Like the Yorkshireman, Matip also joined the club on a free and similarly has a year left on his contract.

Having stepped up impressively to partner Virgil van Dijk in defence in the second half of the season, Matip looks set to be offered new terms under Klopp’s Anfield revolution.

The 27-year-old appears nailed on to feature alongside the Dutchman in the Champions League final on Saturday, while Milner could yet stake a claim to start in a three-man midfield against Spurs.

Both Matip and Milner fully-deserve to be rewarded for their performances on the pitch and we look forward to seeing them both next season (hopefully with European silverware on their CVs).
