Pundit makes weird prediction about LFC ahead of Champions League final

Former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince claims that Jurgen Klopp’s players will be physically and mentally fatigued having failed to win the Premier League title – which could hinder their attempts to win the Champions League.

His logic is that the Reds will be feeling down having not got themselves a league title, but we think the opposite will be the case.

The Reds accumulated 97 points, and you have to be a very good side for that to be the case. With a three week break, the players should be refreshed and ready to go.

Roberto Firmino is also back in contention, having missed three of the last five league games, so he won’t be tired.

Speaking to Paddy Power, Ince said: “Liverpool will be knackered from trying to chase Man City. If I was [Spurs boss, Mauricio] Pochettino, I’d be saying that they’ve had a very, very tough season.

“They’ve exhausted themselves trying to chase City – and will they be feeling that during the final? It will definitely have taken its toll. Losing out to City in the Premier League will have not only taken its toll on Liverpool physically but mentally too.”

Time will tell whether Ince’s thoughts come true – but we don’t think that will be the case.

Spurs are a great side so there is no doubt that the final will be well-contested, but to suggest the Reds will be too tired to compete seems a bit much. Jurgen Klopp’s preparations will have them all in peak condition.
