Peter Crouch hilariously jokes he’s naming newborn son after CL hero

Peter Crouch has a deserved reputation as one of football’s funnymen – often self-deprecating, but always humourous.

Crouchie has remained a follower of the Reds and felt it was absolutely deserved that we ended up winning the Champions League final in Madrid after the season we’ve had.

The win against one of his other former clubs, Tottenham Hotspur, was sealed by Divock Origi.

It was he who got us there in the first place after writing his name in history with a brace in our miraculous fightback against Barcelona at Anfield.

Now, however, the former Liverpool man has jokingly suggested that he’ll be naming his newborn child “Divock Samrat Crouch” in honour of our new cult hero.

Unfortunately, Crouch later confirmed everyone’s suspicions that it was all made in jest and that his wife, Liverpool-born Abbey Clancy, was not that keen on the name.

However, the baby boy’s middle name, which originates from the 38-year-old’s favouite curry house, has apparently already been approved by his wife.

It’s just a shame that she didn’t think naming their fourth child Divock would be a fitting tribute the Belgian Barça slayer.

We’ll have to wait and see what the 6ft 7.5 former Red goes for in the end, but maybe he should float the idea of Jürgen and wait for how it goes down?
