Date for Liverpool showdown with Man City confirmed

A chance for the first piece of silverware ahead of the 2019/20 season falls to the feet of Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Reds are up against the reigning Premier League champions in the Community Shield as the Sky Blues won the FA Cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are up against Pep Guardiola and co. on Sunday the 4th of August at Wembley at 3pm.

This will be the first time the Reds are featured in the Community Shield in 13 years – Liverpool finished second in the League that year too.

The game will serve as the curtain opener for the 2019/20 season, and the Reds will be hoping to start the season how they finished the last one by bringing home some silverware.

It’d serve as some part revenge on City as they beat us to the Premier League title, even though we pushed them right until the last day of the season.

In the same announcement by the Premier League, it was confirmed that the Emirates FA Cup final will take place on Saturday the 23rd of May in 2020 – hopefully the Reds will be taking part in that.

Liverpool are in action again in just over a month as they travel over the River Mersey to challenge themselves against newly-promoted League One side Tranmere Rovers.
