Italian report claims Klopp has offered huge sum to sign Nicolas Pépé

Italian journalist, Nicolò Schira, has reported that Jürgen Klopp is eager to close an €80 million deal for Nicolas Pépé having apparently offered Lille the amount for his services.

The suggestion is that it would be a contract until 2024 with an annual salary of €3 million plus bonuses.

Having spoken with Schira to verify the report, we’ve discovered this information has apparently come straight from the player’s agents; but, as the Pépé story has been a volatile one, we’re still taking more than a pinch of salt with it!

It remains to be seen what will happen with the 24-year-old Ivorian, who scored 22 goals in Ligue 1 this season.

It has been a strange rumour full of twists and turns. On Thursday, L’Equipe suggested the Reds were “hot” on Pépé and in the race to secure his services.

While today, The Mirror are suggesting Pépé has ruled out a move to the Premier League to sign for Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga giants need to replace aged duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry and seem poised to steal a march on their rivals. It is believed they still want Leroy Sané as well, so that won’t impact any intentions of signing Pépé.

But the fact is, we’ve been linked with Pépé and Klopp is allegedly after attacking competition for our European champions up front.

The Ivory Coast international offers the kind of versatility, speed, and threat that will please Jürgen.

Watch and wait on this one Reds, but if it does come through what a player we’ll have on our hands!
