Reds battling Premier League pair for Bruno Fernandes – Record

According to Portuguese outlet Record – via The Mirror – Sporting CP sensation, Bruno Fernandes, remains on the Reds’ radar as they battle Manchester United and Tottenham to his signature.

Fernandes scored a hugely impressive 32 goals in all competitions from midfield for Sporting, while a further 18 assists further bolstered his status.

The Portuguese previously told Record: “I like Liverpool a lot more [than Man City] it’s a more direct [style of play], more offensive, maybe less organised, but more intense football, when you do not have the ball possession, you are more intense.”

The Reds are believed to hold serious intentions to sign Fernandes and were linked with him back in February.

Despite being an exciting potential addition to the team, we do have a surplus of midfield talent already. Although, none of our midfielders can match Fernandes’ ridiculous goalscoring numbers.

With a fresh and hungry Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to come back into the fold and Naby Keïta finally finding his feet, we’re not sure exactly how Fernandes would slot into the side.

Maybe adding quality will be a necessity for us as we look to challenge on four fronts next term, even if Sporting will demand a price of £71 million for their prolific captain.

Despite talk of Man City, rumours have now transferred over to the other side of Manchester with a move to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United apparently on the cards.

With Portugal now in the Nations League final, discussions could take place after they’re over.

However, Record have also reported that Champions League runners-up Tottenham are close to bringing the 24-year-old to London.

Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho will apparently fly to London next week for a series of talks with clubs keen to add the Portugal international to their ranks.

We’ve got a friendly with Sporting on July 25th over in New York and anything could have happened by that point. We’ll just have to wait and see.
