Reliable source who broke Fekir & Fabinho news claims Reds are “well-placed” on Pépé transfer

RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi has encouragingly claimed via Twitter that the Reds are “well-placed” to seal the potential signing of Nicolas Pépé and have started early negotiations with Lille.

Reliability-wise, as a source Bouhafsi’s solid and accurate. He was one of the first journalists to break the news of our interest and approach for Nabil Fekir last summer and was even straight on the case for Fabinho after last year’s Champions League final

For that reason, we’re quite excited about this news! But we’re trying to temper our expectations; anything could happen, or be happening – we just don’t know for sure.

Italian report claims Klopp has offered huge sum to sign Nicolas Pépé

As the rumours today have suggested, Bayern Munich are seemingly our rivals in the hunt to secure the services of the 24-year-old, who could cost up to €80 million.

We’re unsure of just who that third club could be, but we do know that The Mirror claimed that Manchester United were eager to sign Pépé who scored 22 goals in Ligue 1 this season.

We’re not sure they’re “very important” though to be fair.

If the initial news wasn’t enough, he has also provided photo evidence of him with Pépé. Although that in itself doesn’t necessarily prove anything, it does hint towards increased credibility.

We’ll still have to watch and wait on this one with bated breath – we told you the Pépé story would have its twists and turns.

Fingers crossed Pépé using this thinking time to make the right decision, but we’re very grateful to Bouhafsi for keeping us in the loop, no matter what’s actually happening behind the scenes.
