Loris Karius could make surprise switch to European giants

AS Roma are keen on signing Loris Karius, according to Fotomac (via Sport Witness).

The German goalkeeper spent the season just gone on loan at Besiktas, where he endured a mixed campaign.

At one point it looked like there was no coming back for Karius in Turkey, but towards the end of the season his confidence increased and he started proving why was initially so highly-rated in the first place.

Despite that, the report suggests Besiktas boss Abdullah Avci is undecided, and that AS Roma are keen on cutting short his two-year loan deal and signing permanently.

This is definitely an interesting and potentially exciting move for Karius, who earned the respect of Liverpool fans for his reaction to the Champions League win.

The stopper was largely responsible for our defeat to Real Madrid in 2018, but his replacement Alisson was Man of the Match in 2019 and Karius sent a top-class message following the 2-0 win in Madrid.

We just hope he enjoys a good career somewhere – whether that be Turkey, Italy or elsewhere in Europe. Making a profit on Karius is not necessarily the club’s priority in his instance, with everything that happened last year.
