How Sadio Mane’s French has helped Fabinho

Liverpool’s brilliant anchorman Fabinho has lauded Sadio Mane, a player who has helped him at Anfield for different reasons.

Interestingly, our Brazilian says he’s been able to communicate with Mane in French, a mutual language that Fabinho picked up during his time at AS Monaco.

Mane is from Senegal, so can converse in French perfectly – which according to our no.3 – has been a blessing.

Fabinho also analysed why Mane is such a benefit to the team on the field, too – following the no.10’s 26-goal season that could have easily seen him win the Premier League Player of the Year award in any other normal campaign.

“He’s a complete player – he gives you the option of a short pass or a long ball, he contributes to the build-up and creation of play as well. He’s a great player in amazing form, which is really important for his confidence,” Fabinho told the official website.

“Off the pitch I chat with him quite a bit as we both speak French, my French is still better than my English. He’s a great lad. Sadio has been a really important player for us this season.”

Both are integral to the side and will be automatic starters next season, injury permitting.

It’s sensational to have such a physical, reliable, technical holding midfielder, while Mane just gets better every year.

Fabinho is 25 and Mane 27 – so we have at least five years of the duo at their peak to come – which is incredibly exciting when you consider the ages of Alisson (26), Trent (20), Robbo (25), Van Dijk (27), Salah (26) and Firmino (27).

This core group will now likely stay together for a few seasons in which we can compete for every available trophy.

Bring it on!
