Journalist’s news on Klopp’s striker plans will annoy some fans, but it shouldn’t…

It’s the summer, so naturally – fans turn their attention to the fairly monotonous transfer window.

As bloggers on Liverpool – it’s a strange time of the year. We get the most traffic during the months where there isn’t games going on, but it’s mind-numbingly boring work.

In fact, we’re counting down the days until our first friendly of the season versus Tranmere!

And those who are waiting on a mega-name striker signing to compete with the front-three are likely to be left disappointed…

That’s according to John Cross in the Mirror, who states that Jurgen Klopp will not look into the market for another attacking option, but instead will put all his eggs in Rhian Brewster’s basket.

For some, this will feel like a missed opportunity. After all – we’ve just won the Champions League – are flush with cash and could attract 99% of players in Europe.

Why not bolster the squad, when Manchester City are so heavily armed and have proven they can compete on four fronts as a result?

But we should look at the manner in which Klopp trusted and developed Trent Alexander-Arnold instead of buying a Nathaniel Clyne replacement as evidence of his masterplan.

Brewster is just as hyped as our Scouse right-back was – and Trent is arguably the best player in his position on the planet after two years in the side.

Our young forward’s chances of minutes would be ruined if we spent £50m+ on someone who would obviously need to be the first rotation option behind the front-three.

Let’s take this as a positive. If Brewster wasn’t something special, we’d go out and buy someone, right? How exciting must his potential be…?
