Reds named as club keeping tabs on England midfielder

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Coventry City and England U19s midfielder Tom Bayliss, according to Birmingham Live, who claim the Reds are rivalling Aston Villa for his signature.

Bayliss played 38 games in League One this season at the age of just 20, starting around 80% of the time. He is clearly a talent to keep an eye on over the coming seasons, but he will not want to warm the bench for the Reds.

He’s almost certain to have earned a move up the divisions having impressed this season, whether that be to the Championship or the Premier League, but the Reds are unlikely to be his destination.

Leeds United, Derby County and Everton are also rumoured to be watching Bayliss, and all three would be able to offer more regular game time.

For a fee of around £3 million, he could be a bargain for someone, but it probably won’t be the Reds. As is often the case, Liverpool’s name might simply have been thrown in to make other teams panic and up their bids.
