“I don’t want to leave”: On-loan Reds man speaks out on transfer speculation

Loris Karius says he will still be at Besiktas next season, claiming he has a debt to pay to the fans of the Turkish side.

The German is in the middle of a two-year loan deal following Alisson’s arrival on Merseyside last summer, but there had been speculation that it could be cut short with Roma among those rumoured to be showing an interest in him.

Karius has been quick to quash any transfer talk, though, internally.

He said to Besiktas board member Umut Guner, according to Hurriyet, via Sport Witness: “I have a debt to pay to the Besiktas fans. I don’t want to leave and I am not considering my options.

“I want to stay at this great club. I will work hard to become better and I want to win the title with my club next season.”

Karius will be obliged to sign for Besiktas on a permanent deal if he plays a certain amount of games, which looks likely to be the case given he was number one for most of last season in Turkey.

He doesn’t have a future with the Reds – at least not as number one – but we wish him all the best with the rest of his career, whether that is in Turkey or elsewhere.
