AC Milan have reportedly turned their attention away from Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren. This news comes just days after the Reds reportedly inform the Serie A club of their asking price.

The Rossoneri are now prioritising a move for Stuttgart youngster Ozan Kabak as an alternative to Lovren and Roma’s Kostas Manolas, according to Calcio Mercato.

The 19-year-old may look for a move away from Germany after Stuttgart were relegated at the end of last season. The Turkish defender has a release clause in his contract of just over £13million, as per the same report.

The Mirror reported in March that Roma and Napoli were interested in signing Lovren – with the moving chess pieces that are Kabak, Dejan and Manolas, there may be new suitors for all of the centre-backs I’ve mentioned in this article by the end of July.

Lovren has enjoyed mixed fortunes at Liverpool – his match-winning header against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League will live long in the memory.

Our number six joined the club with a stellar reputation, having built a formidable partnership with Jose Fote at Southampton, but hasn’t really lived up to it.

The Telegraph included Lovren in a feature about the 2014/15 Premier League’s 20 worst signings which remarked on the number of his errors that resulted in opposition goals.

That being said, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to want to sell the experienced defender, but if the right offer comes in then I expect the boss to cut his losses.
