This is pretty mental!
Dirk Kuyt is one of a number of former Dutch footballers set to team up with business Rob Jansen in an attempt to buy Bolton Wanderers, reports AD.
Jansen said on NPO1: ‘It is a long-held wish to buy a club together with the number of players and former players for whom I am doing business.
‘The players and I have a Utopian image of how that club should be led and what it takes to achieve the highest.
‘I am really looking forward to this adventure. I think there is a good chance that it will work out.’
Bolton are in a sorry state right now, relegated from the Championship last season and will begin this one on minus 12 points due to their going into administration.
Kuyt retired in 2017 after winning the title with Feyenoord, but is now seemingly looking to get back into the game in a non-playing capacity!
The forward turned combative winger under Rafa Benitez used to play against Bolton twice a season, but that was when they were managed by Sam Alladryce and a genuine Premier League force.
We wish him luck in his endeavours – and hope he can help Bolton out. It’s never nice seeing a club run into the ground by bad owners – especially one with a relatively large fanbase that dominates a city – as Bolton does.
