In Virgil van Dijk, the Reds have one of the world’s finest defenders who has formed part of a impregnable backline for us this season.
But, as it’s the transfer window, speculation has now entered some truly bizarre territory.
According to Everton’s Italian football scout, Carlo Jacomuzzi, if the Reds signed Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly it “would be a disaster” for every other team.
He made the comments to Radio Marte in Italy, which was published by AreaNapoli by way of SportWitness.
“Manchester United is a pitfall these days. City? If Guardiola makes a decision, they buy. Napoli want €130m? In England, there are four team who can pay that amount,” Jacomuzzi said.
“Liverpool? They’ve won so much from the Champions League , from the money from the federation and their sponsors that they can buy two Koulibalys. It would be a disaster for the others, having to find a way to go through that defence.”

With his knowledge of Serie A, Jacomuzzi was asked about the chances of the Senegalese defender heading over to the Premier League and his words here suggest he thinks the Reds could spend big.
We highly doubt Jürgen Klopp will be in the market for Koulibaly (let alone Everton) who is likely to cost even more than the record-breaking fee we paid for Van Dijk!
He’s obviously a highly-talented defender but with the likes of a reborn Joël Matip and a rejuvenated Joe Gomez, we think we’ll be absolutely fine without him.
