‘Hyper-reliable’ source says LFC ‘have not had last word’ on 22-goal star

During transfer windows, not only do you have to analyse what is being said when various rumours do the rounds – but you also have to analyse the veracity of the source its coming from!

So when Melissa Reddy or James Pearce tell us we’re seriously in for Player X, we get more excited than when Don Balon pull another exclusive from their backsides.

French outlet La Voix du Nord – on the other hand – are renowned as honest – with GFFN on Twitter declaring them ‘hyper-reliable’.

And they’re suggesting we have not had our ‘last word’ on Nicolas Pepe, the Ivorian winger who scored 22 goals for Lille in Ligue 1 last season.

While we imagine we’ve kept tabs on Pepe and scouted him heavily, the likely asking price will probably stop us from entering the race.

After all, Inter Milan have just tabled an insane €90m bid, according to the Metro, which would undeniably rule us out. We can’t spend that much money on a player who would come in as first option off the bench.

It will pain some fans to hear, but it doesn’t look like Liverpool will make a big move in the market for an attacker. Instead, we’ll trust Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster. An error? A missed opportunity to build upon a Champions League win? Time will tell.
