Liverpool legend and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard believed Ryan Kent may stay with the Anfield club for the upcoming season.
Kent spent last season on loan at the Scottish giants, but it’s looking increasingly likely that he won’t be staying there for the long-term.
The winger bagged six goals and four assists in 27 SPL appearances for the ‘Gers last season, and has sparked interest from newly-promoted Aston Villa and Championship hopefuls Leeds United.
Gerrard is hoping that Kent is sent out on another loan so Rangers can pounce as Liverpool’s £12million asking price stands in the way of a permanent deal.
“There’s always competition for top players. Yes, we would like Ryan Kent back but the reality is he’s Liverpool’s player, so we have to respect that,” the former midfielder told Sky Sports News.
“Jurgen Klopp, I’m sure, will want to take a look at Ryan so we’ll respect Liverpool’s decision on which direction they want to take on the situation but we are at the table.”

Kent’s return from Rangers has proved to be a much more successful loan spell than that of Bristol City and it may give Klopp something to think about.
However, the form of Harry Wilson at Derby County is probably more likely to tempt Klopp – the Welshman bagged 18 times last season in 49 games in all competitions, and totted up six assists – an impressive return which earned him a nomination for the EFL Young Player of the Year award.
With Xherdan Shaqiri seemingly going nowhere, the winger can give further cover on the right-wing as the Reds will hopefully look to progress in the domestic cups.
