Superstar Liverpool target set to join European giants on the cheap

Lyon’s want-away superstar Nabil Fekir is set to join Serie A giants AC Milan on a cut-rate deal, according to Italian outlet CalcioMercato (via TEAMTalk).

The report suggests that the Rossoneri are to offer up to £35million for the World Cup winner – a fee that is considerably higher than what was being reported as Fekir’s price tag recently.

The Reds backed out of any deal for Fekir because of concerns over scans on his knee taken during his medical in Paris, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool viewed the Frenchman as too much of a risk to spend around £60million on, but in typical fashion the midfielder hasn’t suffered a long-term injury since.

Even so – Jurgen Klopp and his backroom staff baulked at the transfer for a legitimate reason, and with the injury troubles we’ve had with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip this season gone, I can’t see that decision changing.

This saga has gone on long enough – if the Reds are no longer interested in Fekir, then I hope we don’t hear much more about it. I made my feelings clear last summer, and it’s still going on now.
