Liverpool set for quiet summer; but a deal is in the works, states reputable journalist

Liverpool are reportedly set for a quiet summer after confirming the capture of Dutch starlet Sepp van den Berg from Eredivisie outfit PEC Zwolle.

That’s according to respected Mirror Sport journalist David Maddock – he claims that the Reds aren’t planning on spending anything like the fees we saw for Alisson Becker and Fabinho again this year.

In fact – van den Berg is an example of what we can expect from Liverpool this summer. Promising talents that are on the cusp of breaking through is what the Reds are after.

Maddock suggests the young Dutchman is set to be one of the most notable in-comings this year with just one more deal worth “in the region of £20million” in the works at the minute.

The recruitment team, led by sporting director Michael Edwards, have indicated there will be little business this summer, and there will be few more outgoings,he claims.

Liverpool have just won the Champions League and marginally missed out on their first domestic league title in over 20 years by a single point – so, why should we break the bank when we can further develop some young talent?

It’s not very exciting, but take a look at Spurs last year – the CL finalists; transfer windows don’t need to be entertaining for there to be progress in a squad.
