Young Reds defender released after “unbelievable experiences” with LFC

Young Reds centre-back, Conor Masterson, has joined Queens Park Rangers on a two-year contract after departing the Reds as a free agent.

The 20-year-old’s deal with the club came to end and he has decided to take on a new opportunity with QPR in the Championship.

“To sign for QPR is an honour and a privilege and I can’t wait to get started,” the Republic of Ireland U21 international told his new club’s website.

“I learnt so much during my time with Liverpool, had some unbelievable experiences and I think that will carry through into QPR.”

While with the Reds’ U18s, he captained the side before progressing to the U23s and even ended up on the senior-side’s bench in April of 2018, for matches against Everton in the Premier League and Manchester City in the Champions League.

Before his recent move to London, the young defender was scheduled to be on last season’s pre-season tour but a knee injury precluded him from getting on the flight to the USA, ruling him out for ten weeks.

“Mentally it was very tough but you learn from it and it makes you stronger,” he admitted. You have your ups and downs in football. That was my down and hopefully this move is one of my ups.

“I can guarantee the fans I will give everything in every game.”

We wish Conor all the best with his new challenge and it could very well be that the new arrival of Sepp Van den Berg has been designed with his departure in mind (though this has not officially been confirmed).
