Mo Salah has reacted to Egypt’s shock AFCON exit, with LFC no.11 set for well-earned break

On a personal level, we’re gutted Mo Salah hasn’t been able to mimic Alisson and Roberto Firmino’s international triumph this summer.

While our Brazilians secured the Copa America last night, Salah’s Egypt were knocked out of the AFCON R16 by South Africa in a big upset.

However, the defeat does now mean Salah can get himself on holiday – and he’ll hopefully be recuperated by the time the 2019/20 kicks off in around 30 days’ time.

Salah thanked the Egyptian fans yesterday for their incredible support, promising that his team will learn from their mistakes.

“Very sad for our early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations. We were hoping to continue together till the end and offer the tournament for our loyal fans to whom I have to address a big thank you for the support we are used to from them,” Salah tweeted last night.

“God willing we will learn from our mistakes. I wish the best for the national team in what is to come.”

We don’t imagine we’ll see much, if any, of Salah this pre-season.

The flyer will be resting before manically getting back up to full fitness ahead of the campaign’s opener v Norwich.

Sadio Mane is still in the AFCON with Senegal, and if they go all the way, with the Final set to take place on July 19th, it’s hard to see how he’ll be ready for Liverpool in time for the new term.

Perhaps we’ll see Rhian Brewster or Divock Origi at Anfield on August 9th.
