This summer could see the most high-profile swap deal since Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined Barcelona from Inter Milan for a lot of money plus Samuel Eto’o.
With Neymar failing to turn up to the opening day of PSG’s pre-season, word is that he’ll try and force a move to Barcelona, the club who sold him for outrageous money two seasons ago.
And according to the Bookies, this heightens the chances of Coutinho moving to France in the opposite direction.
“There has been mounting speculation over his future at Barcelona and for the first time we’ve seen a big move on him departing the Nou Camp,” Betway’s Alan Alger said.
“PSG are now just 10/11 to sign the Brazilian having been a much bigger price last week and look in pole position to snap him up, particularly with Neymar now 1/3 for a switch in the opposite direction.
“Liverpool head the list of Premier League pursuers at 5/1 and it will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp makes a move for a player he sold only last year.”
Coutinho endured a torrid season in Spain in 2018/19, despite Barca winning La Liga. He was a shadow of his former self during the Champions League semi-final defeat to Liverpool and was regularly booed by his own supporters.
Liverpool are not going to spend the money required to bring him back to Anfield, so a move to PSG makes sense – especially if Neymar is demanding an exit.
Once fans turns on you as strongly as Barca’s have, there’s little coming back, especially when the manager Ernesto Valverde has consistently shown not to trust our former no.10 tactically.
We imagine the Brazilian is questioning his decision to depart Jurgen Klopp’s side in 2018, having watched us lift the Champions League just six weeks back.
