Colombian left-back trains with LFC first-team following Moreno departure

Alberto Moreno has signed terms at Villarreal, and we wish the Spaniard all the best upon his return to La Liga!

But his exit does mean Liverpool are currently with just one senior left-back, Andy Robertson, on our books.

James Milner and Joe Gomez can play in the position, but it’s by no means their first, and probably not their second best role.

Despite this, it doesn’t look like the Reds will enter the transfer market for a new left-back, with our Community Shield fixture with Manchester City just 24 days away.

There’s been much talk about Adam Lewis, a 19-year-old from our U23s, as a potential option – and we reckon we’ll see the Scouser feature heavily during the pre-season friendlies.

But one name that hasn’t really been mentioned is Anderson Arroyo, the Colombian 19-year-old who’s been training with the first-team.

In the picture below, you’ll see him on the left, alongside Ben Woodburn and Curtis Jones.

Arroyo has so far been out on loan at Mallorca and Gent, but struggled to make much of an impact in the first-team of either.

We’re not 100% sure on his work-permit situation, and imagine he’ll be loaned out again before 2019/20 kicks off – but we may see him in one of the early friendlies – before the rest of the squad return.

He made his full debut at 15 for Fortaleza and is a regular for Colombia’s youth sides – so we definitely have a talent on our hands.

It’ll be very interesting to see whether he’s got what it takes.
