Exciting 18-year-old starlet set to make first team bow against Tranmere

18-year-old left-back Yasser Larouci, who was a crucial part of the Reds’ U18s team who won the FA Youth Cup last season, is expected to feature tonight for the first team against Tranmere Rovers.

With Andy Robertson now the only senior left-back in the squad after Alberto Moreno departed, there is a chance for someone to make the step up to the first-team full-time, and Larouci will be hoping to be that man.

The former Le Harve player came into the club’s Academy as a winger but has been converted to full-back. He still spends a lot of time going forward with the ball at his feet, but during the course of last season, his defensive awareness came on significantly.

Adam Lewis is, of course, the other option available from the Academy. He may well also be involved this evening as well at some point.

At this stage, Lewis would be the favourite to become Robertson’s understudy having got a couple of seasons more experience under his belt at the club, but pre-season could alter that pecking order.

Colombian Anderson Arroyo is also in the mix, with Jurgen Klopp having a big decision to make ahead of the new campaign.
