Jurgen Klopp provides transfer message following Tranmere Rovers victory

Jurgen Klopp has told Reds supporters not to expect many incomings this summer as the club are happy with the squad that the boss currently has available to him.

Several young players impressed against Tranmere Rovers in a 6-0 win, and a few of those will step up to the first team this year. Additionally, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who missed the entirety of the last campaign, is now fit again and ready to fire on all cylinders.

Despite Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge leaving, Klopp believes that there is enough depth in the squad without spending big on replacements for the duo.

Via the Metro, he explained: “Rhian Brewster, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t play last year, all the young boys today are all new players for us so that’s all good.

“The transfer market is open, I don’t know exactly until when [August 8]. The whole of Europe had the wonderful idea to close the transfer window early and the only country that did it was England! We close it three weeks before all the others.

“So yeah, we will see what we do. I don’t think it will be the biggest transfer window of all time.”

Klopp has not closed the door completely – the club will act if someone who they want suddenly and unexpectedly becomes available for the right price – but fans should not be expecting anything much to happen transfers-wise in the coming weeks.

Sepp van den Berg missed the match this evening because he is yet to get a work permit. A second summer signing, Harvey Elliott, who watched the game from the stands, is also set to be announced.
