Reds move ahead of La Liga giants in race for €40m-rated Spain U21 starlet

El Mundo Deportivo has claimed that the agent of reported Reds target, Dani Olmo, has revealed that the in-demand Spain under-21 star will not be moving to a La Liga side, leaving Liverpool, Tottenham, or Bayern Munich to secure a deal.

Juanma Lopez, Olmo’s representative, has allegedly admitted that it will be a Champions League side that will win his signature as his future remains up in the air, but is soon to be confirmed.

Lopez’s revelation seemingly eliminates the likes of Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Real Madrid from the equation, leaving Liverpool to steal a march if they so wish.

After all the big-money transfer business going on in Spain at the moment, with Antoine Griezmann to Barça and João Félix to Atléti – plus Real Madrid’s €300m+ club-record summer spending on Eden Hazard, Luka Jović, Ferland Mendy, Éder Militão, and Rodrygo – perhaps it is unsurprising they are all apparently out of the running.

The Reds have previously been linked with Olmo, whose stock has risen exponentially after his captivating, goalscoring performances for Spain saw La Rojita win the UEFA U21 Euros.

The admission rules out AC Milan, who were previously thought to have a strong bid for the 21-year-old, while Manchester United appear keen to try and convince him to join them despite failing to achieve Champions League football for the upcoming season.

Currently plying his trade at Dinamo Zagreb after leaving Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Olmo was crowned the league’s best player and best young player of the 2019 season after 12 goals and nine assists in the Croatian First Football League.

El Mundo Deportivo report that a fee of €40 million will be enough to do business, though Calciomercato suggest a fee closer to €25 million as Spurs circle in on Olmo.

It remains to be seen whether Jürgen Klopp will sanction a deal for the exciting, young attacker, but with the current transfer window as it is, it’s quite likely we will have to wait for further information on this.
