Yasser Larouci may not necessarily be a name some Reds are familiar with, but the young French-Algerian left-back is trying to change that with what he hope will be an impressive pre-season under Jürgen Klopp.

The 18-year-old clocked up 27 appearances in the 2018/19 season, including a goal and two assists in 17 games in the U18 Premier League.

Equally, a 27-minute showing in the young Reds’ 5-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain’s youngsters in September fixture in the UEFA Youth League yielded a valuable assist too.

A former winger, capable of playing either side, Barry Lewtas’ decision to re-position him as a left-back as been fruitfully rewarded. Quick, strong, and eye-catching on the flank, he’s certainly the kind of player Klopp might look for in a full-back.

Together with Liverpool-born Adam Lewis, Larouci could give Klopp something to think about as he looks for someone to replace Alberto Moreno as Andy Robertson’s deputy.

The former Le Harve player gave a very good account of himself in the 6-0 pre-season victory over Tranmere Rovers, and his lively first-half performance caused all sorts of problems for Tranmere down their left-hand side.

We’ll let you be the judge, with this highlights reel showcasing his performance under Klopp’s watchful eye.
