Liverpool ready to sanction Coutinho return on one condition – report

Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho looks set to leave the La Liga giants after they confirmed the signing of World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann.

To make matters worse for the Brazilian, the former Atletico Madrid forward is reportedly set to be given his number seven shirt after signing for over £100million.

According to Mundo Deportivo – via the Metro, the Reds are willing to allow Coutinho to link up with the Champions of Europe if Barcelona are willing to slash their asking price.

The same report suggests that the Catalan club are hoping to use the Brazilian in a swap deal with PSG for former star Neymar – to me, this now seems unlikely unless Luis Suarez is also moved on.

Coutinho is said to be desperate for a return to the Premier League, with Liverpool being his preferred destination, but the Reds don’t need him.

Sure, the Little Magician is incredibly talented, but Liverpool don’t play in a way that suits the Brazilian any more. Sadio Mane certainly wouldn’t be shifted to accommodate him.

He could still play for us in a midfield trio, but Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is enough bodies.

Unless Phil throws his toys out of the pram, and stamps his feet, then I can’t see him re-joining Liverpool this summer.
