New PL rules come in to play following Liverpool & Manchester City’s title race

Liverpool missed out on Premier League glory last season, despite racking up 97 points and losing just one match in 38.

It was enormously cruel, but thankfully, our Champions League victory made up for it – and some!

Before the last day of the campaign, which saw both ourselves and Manchester City win our games against Wolves and Brighton respectively, there was some concern/interest in the possibility of a Play-Off between us and Pep Guardiola’s team.

Last term, if points, goal difference and goals scored were all equal, a Play-Off between the sides would have occurred to see who would finish higher.

But in 2019/20, the head-to-head record between two sides level on points, goal difference and goals scored will come in to play before a Play-Off – as well as away goals in those two particular fixtures.

Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign on August 9th at home to Norwich, although we won’t be able to call upon last season’s joint Golden Boot winner Sadio Mane, who will still be holidaying following the AFCON.
